Cutaneous Anthrax

The patient is a 57 year old male who presented with cutaneous anthrax following contact with a contaminated cow-hide. The lesion was ulcerated and indurated.

There is massive subepidermal edema.




There is extensive dermal necrosis accompanied
by an intense neutrophil infiltrate.



Numerous thrombosed vessels are present.
